What the result means
- 0 to 6
- Low risk: about 10 percent mortality at ten years, in a group whose average age was 47. Low is relative to this disease, not to a general population.
- 7 to 11
- Intermediate risk: about 44 percent mortality at ten years.
- 12 to 20
- High risk: about 84 percent mortality at ten years.
- No ejection fraction
- The model has none. It carries ventricular function as the chest radiograph and a yes-or-no wall-motion abnormality, and it was validated that way.
- Male sex scores
- Sex is a term in this model, worth 2 points. That is unusual among risk scores and it is deliberate.
- All-cause death
- Not sudden death specifically. The score does not select a defibrillator, a pacemaker or transplantation.
