Suppository and Molded-Form Displacement
Base and drug for a batch of suppositories or other molded units, from the mold calibration and the drug factor.

Example
- What to work out
- Find the factor from three weighings
- One unit of plain base from this mold
- 2 g
- Drug per unit
- 0.3 g
- Calibrate
- 2.15 g
Result: Density factor 2; displacement factor 0.5.
The tool opens with these values already filled in. Replace them with your own.
What you enter
- What to work out: a batch, or the factor from three weighings (calibrate)
- Batch: which definition the factor uses (density: g of drug per g of base space; displacement: g of base displaced per g of drug)
- Batch: number of units
- Batch: extra units to allow for loss (optional)
- One unit of plain base from this mold
- Drug per unit
- Batch: the drug factor, under the definition chosen
- Calibrate: one medicated unit from this mold
How this is calculated
Citation
Arithmetic identity (the mold holds a fixed volume): base per unit = blank weight − drug ÷ density factor, or − drug × displacement factor. The two factor definitions are reciprocals; the factor is the reader's own, or found by calibration.
