Stanford Classification (Aortic Dissection)
Stanford classification of aortic dissection asks one question, whether the ascending aorta is involved.

Example
- Aortic arch
- Yes
- Descending thoracic aorta
- Yes
- Refractory pain or refractory hypertension
- Yes
Result: Stanford type B, high-risk uncomplicated, with the arch involved.
The tool opens with these values already filled in. Replace them with your own.
What you enter
- Ascending aorta (root to the innominate artery)
- Aortic arch (innominate to the left subclavian artery)
- Descending thoracic aorta (above the diaphragm)
- Abdominal aorta (below the diaphragm)
- Rupture, or periaortic hematoma
- Malperfusion (visceral, renal, limb, or spinal cord)
- Refractory pain or refractory hypertension
- Early aortic expansion, or an aortic diameter over 40 mm
- Bloody pleural effusion
