What the result means
- Grade I
- Single or isolated erosion(s) on a single mucosal fold.
- Grade II
- Multiple, non-confluent erosions on more than one fold, not circumferential.
- Grade III
- Circumferential (confluent) erosions extending around the entire lumen.
- Grade IV
- Chronic complications: ulcer, stricture, or esophageal shortening.
- Grade V
- Barrett's esophagus: columnar-lined (metaplastic) epithelium.
