What the result means
- Le Fort I
- Horizontal "floating palate" fracture across the maxilla above the tooth apices (Guerin).
- Le Fort II
- Pyramidal "floating maxilla" fracture up through the infraorbital rims and medial orbital walls.

- Craniofacial disjunction ("floating face"): the whole midface separated from the skull base.
