2018 Lake Louise Criteria (Myocarditis on Cardiac MRI)
2018 Lake Louise Criteria (Ferreira 2018) for myocarditis on cardiac MRI.

Example
- T2: raised T2 relaxation time
- Yes
- T1: non-ischemic late enhancement
- Yes
Result: 2018 Lake Louise Criteria met - a T2-based and a T1-based marker are both present, supporting acute myocarditis.
The tool opens with these values already filled in. Replace them with your own.
What the result means
- T2 prong
- Edema: raised myocardial T2 relaxation time, visible edema on T2-weighted images, or a raised T2 signal intensity ratio.
- T1 prong
- Injury: raised myocardial T1 relaxation time, raised extracellular volume fraction, or late gadolinium enhancement in a non-ischemic pattern.
- Performance
- About 88% sensitivity and 96% specificity against biopsy; more sensitive than the 2009 three-part criteria.
- Not to confuse
- A different instrument from the Lake Louise acute mountain sickness score, which shares only the conference venue name.
What you enter
- T2: raised T2 relaxation time
- T2: visible myocardial edema
- T2: raised signal intensity ratio
- T1: raised T1 relaxation time
- T1: raised extracellular volume
- T1: non-ischemic late enhancement
How this is calculated
- Rule
- At least one marker from EACH prong. Two markers from the same prong do not meet the criteria, however striking.
