Framingham criteria for heart failure (McKee 1971): HF diagnosed with >=2 major OR 1 major + >=2 minor.

Example
- Pulmonary rales
- Yes
- Ankle edema
- Yes
- Dyspnea on exertion
- Yes
Result: Framingham criteria MET — heart failure (1 major, 2 minor).
The tool opens with these values already filled in. Replace them with your own.
What the result means
- Major (8)
- acute pulmonary edema, cardiomegaly, hepatojugular reflux, neck-vein distention, PND/orthopnea, rales, S3 gallop, weight loss >4.5kg/5d on treatment.
- Minor (6)
- ankle edema, dyspnea on exertion, hepatomegaly, nocturnal cough, pleural effusion, HR >120. A minor counts only if not from another condition.
What you enter
- Acute pulmonary edema (major)
- Cardiomegaly (major)
- Hepatojugular reflux (major)
- Neck-vein distention / raised JVP (major)
- PND or orthopnea (major)
- Pulmonary rales (major)
- S3 gallop (major)
- Weight loss >4.5 kg/5 d on HF treatment (major)
The other 6 fields
- Ankle edema (minor)
- Dyspnea on exertion (minor)
- Hepatomegaly (minor)
- Nocturnal cough (minor)
- Pleural effusion (minor)
- Tachycardia HR >120 (minor)
How this is calculated
- Rule
- Heart failure = >= 2 major, OR 1 major + >= 2 minor.
