What the result means
- Stage 0 / I / II
- Pre-collapse: silent, normal X-ray (0); pre-radiographic, abnormal MRI (I); sclerosis / cysts, sphericity preserved (II).
- Stage III
- Subchondral collapse (crescent sign) with femoral-head flattening; joint space preserved. A post-collapse stage.
- Stage IV
- Secondary osteoarthritis with joint-space narrowing and acetabular changes. A post-collapse stage.
