Example
- Steinberg stage
- Stage III - subchondral collapse (crescent), no flattening
Result: Steinberg stage III: subchondral collapse (crescent sign) without flattening of the femoral head. Extent: A <15%, B 15-30%, C >30%.

What the result means
- Stage 0-I
- Normal imaging (0), or normal radiograph with abnormal MRI / bone scan (I).
- Stage II
- Lucent and sclerotic (cystic) changes, without subchondral collapse.
- Stage III
- Subchondral collapse (crescent sign) without flattening of the femoral head.
- Stage IV-VI
- Flattening (IV), joint narrowing / acetabular changes (V), advanced degenerative changes (VI).
