What the result means
- Grades
- 0 none; 1 doubtful narrowing + lipping; 2 definite osteophytes + possible narrowing; 3 moderate osteophytes + definite narrowing + sclerosis; 4 large osteophytes + marked narrowing + deformity.
- Threshold
- grade ≥ 2 (definite osteophyte plus possible narrowing) is the accepted threshold for definite radiographic OA. Radiographic grade correlates only loosely with symptoms.
