What the result means
- Stage I
- Initial (sclerosis): smaller, denser epiphysis; widened medial joint space; subchondral fracture may appear.
- Stage II
- Fragmentation: the epiphysis fragments into areas of increased and decreased density.
- Stage III
- Reossification (healing): new bone in the previously radiolucent areas; density normalizes.
- Stage IV
- Healed (remodeling): fully reossified, remodeling to its residual shape.
