What this is

Pick a specialty (cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, gastroenterology, dermatology, neurology, OB/GYN, or pediatrics) and Sophie Well returns a curated question bank tailored to the first visit with that specialist - the questions a thoughtful patient or caregiver would bring if they had time to prepare for a one-hour consult. The lists are not exhaustive; they are starting prompts, hand-curated by the project author, that hit the topics specialty consultations most often glide past (prognosis, alternatives, evidence behind the recommendation, what to watch for between visits, and how to reach the team after hours).

When to use it

Use this in the day or two before a new specialty appointment, especially one with a new diagnosis or one likely to lead to a treatment decision (surgery, chemotherapy, long-term medication, biopsy). The point is not to ask all 30 questions - it is to pick the three or four that match the decision the visit will hit, write them down, and leave room for the clinician to lead. Patients who arrive with written, specialty-specific questions remember more of the plan, ask better follow-ups, and feel more like partners in the encounter.
