SCORAD (SCORing Atopic Dermatitis)

SCORAD (European Task Force on Atopic Dermatitis 1993): extent (A) + six intensity items (B) + subjective pruritus and sleeplessness VAS (C) → a 0–103 atopic-dermatitis severity score (with the objective oSCORAD).

Example

Extent
30
Erythema
2 — moderate
Edema / papulation
1 — mild
Oozing / crusting
1 — mild
Excoriation
2 — moderate
Lichenification
1 — mild
Dryness of uninvolved skin
1 — mild
Pruritus VAS
5
Sleeplessness VAS
3

Result: SCORAD 42/103 — moderate atopic dermatitis (oSCORAD 34).

What the result means

Bands
mild < 25, moderate 25–50, severe > 50; oSCORAD (objective, range 0–83) drops the two subjective VAS items.

What you enter

  • Extent (% BSA affected)
  • Erythema (0–3)
  • Edema / papulation (0–3)
  • Oozing / crusting (0–3)
  • Excoriation (0–3)
  • Lichenification (0–3)
  • Dryness of uninvolved skin (0–3)
  • Pruritus VAS (0–10)
  • Sleeplessness VAS (0–10)
How this is calculated
Formula
SCORAD = A/5 + 7B/2 + C: A extent (% BSA 0–100), B six intensity items each 0–3 (dryness on uninvolved skin), C two 0–10 VAS. oSCORAD = A/5 + 7B/2.
