What this is

Build up a row per prescribed opioid - drug, mg per dose, doses per day - and Sophie Well totals the daily morphine milligram equivalent using the CDC 2022 conversion factors (MMWR Recomm Rep. 2022;71(3):1-95). Per-drug breakdown is shown so the math is auditable; the CDC 50 / 90 MME thresholds are flagged when crossed.

When to use it

Use this when reviewing a chronic-pain regimen, a hospital discharge prescription, or a referral for tapering. The 50 / 90 MME thresholds are framing values, not hard cutoffs; the 2022 CDC update explicitly warns against using them as absolute prescribing limits.

Worked example: Morphine 30 mg x 6 doses/day = 180 total MME (CDC thresholds 50 and 90).
