What the result means
- Diagnosis
- AMS is diagnosed when the total is >= 3 in the presence of a headache, after a recent altitude gain. The headache-required gate must be met.
- Severity
- once diagnosed, mild 3-5, moderate 6-9, severe 10-12. The 2018 revision dropped the sleep item.
