What this is

A math verifier for sample insulin-infusion protocols. Sophie Well takes a protocol intensity (low, moderate, or high) and the current blood glucose, then shows the rate a representative protocol would suggest at that input plus the conventional adjustment direction. The numbers here are illustrative reference values drawn from published examples, not orders - they exist so a learner can sanity-check whether a real protocol's table is doing what its prose says it does.

When to use it

Use this in the classroom, during protocol review, or as a back-of-the-envelope cross-check when you are reading an unfamiliar institutional protocol. Do not use this output to write live orders. Every hospital's insulin-infusion protocol is calibrated against its own monitoring cadence, its own hypoglycemia threshold, and its own dextrose-rescue procedure; mixing protocols mid-stream is the canonical recipe for an avoidable hypoglycemic event. For real DKA/HHS management, follow the institutional protocol your nursing staff is trained on, and let the bedside glucose recheck drive every titration.
