Example

- 3 — only the epiglottis, no glottis (3a liftable, 3b adherent)
Result: Cormack-Lehane grade 3: only the epiglottis is visible; a difficult laryngoscopy view.

What the result means
- Grade 1 / 2
- Most of the glottis visible (1); only the posterior glottis or arytenoids visible (2). Usually a straightforward view.
- Grade 3
- Only the epiglottis visible, no glottis (modified 3a liftable / 3b adherent). A difficult laryngoscopy view.
- Grade 4
- Neither glottis nor epiglottis visible (only the soft palate). A difficult laryngoscopy view.
