What the result means
- Category
- total Agatston score: 0 = no calcified plaque, 1-99 = mild, 100-399 = moderate, >= 400 = severe/extensive (the 100 and 400 breakpoints are consensus).
- Statin aid
- in borderline/intermediate-risk primary prevention: CAC 0 favors deferring a statin, 1-99 favors starting (esp >=55), >=100 or >=75th percentile favors statin. Advisory; 0 is not zero risk.
