What the result means
- Grade 0
- Normal mucosa.
- Grade 1
- Mucosal edema and hyperemia (erythema).
- Grade 2a
- Superficial injury: erosions, friability, blisters, exudate, superficial ulceration.
- Grade 2b
- Grade 2a plus deep discrete or circumferential ulceration.
- Grade 3a
- Focal necrosis: scattered small areas of necrosis.
- Grade 3b
- Extensive necrosis.
- Grade 4
- Perforation.
