What the result means
- Grades
- 0 intact / at-risk, 1 superficial, 2 deep to tendon/capsule/bone, 3 deep with abscess or osteomyelitis, 4 localized gangrene, 5 whole-foot gangrene.
- Framing
- Higher grade carries poorer healing and higher amputation odds; grade 3+ involves deep infection or gangrene needing surgical / vascular evaluation.
