What the result means
- Severe
- >= 6 bloody stools/day plus >= 1 of: temperature > 37.8 C, heart rate > 90, hemoglobin < 10.5 g/dL, ESR > 30 mm/h.
- Mild/moderate
- Mild < 4 stools/day with minimal systemic disturbance; moderate is intermediate.
