What the result means
- Type I
- Nondisplaced, or less than 2 mm of displacement.
- Type IIA
- Two-part transverse fracture.
- Type IIB
- Two-part spiral, lesser trochanter on the proximal fragment.
- Type IIC
- Two-part spiral, lesser trochanter on the distal fragment.
- Type IIIA
- Three-part spiral, lesser trochanter in the third fragment (inferior spike).
- Type IIIB
- Three-part spiral with a butterfly fragment.
- Type IV
- Comminuted, four or more fragments.
- Type V
- Subtrochanteric-intertrochanteric (extends through the greater trochanter).
