Example

Age
55 years
Heart rate
130 bpm
BUN
40 mg/dL

Result: SCORTEN 3 — predicted in-hospital mortality ≈ 35.3% (band 3).

The tool opens with these values already filled in. Replace them with your own.

What the result means

Mortality
0–1 ≈ 3.2%, 2 ≈ 12.1%, 3 ≈ 35.3%, 4 ≈ 58.3%, ≥ 5 ≈ 90%. Best scored on day 1 and again on day 3.

What you enter

  • Age
  • Heart rate
  • Body surface area detached
  • BUN
  • Serum bicarbonate
  • Serum glucose
  • Associated malignancy
How this is calculated
Criteria
seven, each 1 point: age ≥ 40, heart rate > 120, malignancy, BSA detached > 10%, BUN > 28 mg/dL, bicarbonate < 20 mEq/L, glucose > 252 mg/dL.
