What the result means
- < 5
- Appendicitis unlikely.
- 5-7
- Low/moderate probability; observe or image per source.
- 7.5-11.5
- High probability of appendicitis (7.5 = optimal diagnostic cutoff, ~88% sensitivity / 67% specificity in the derivation cohort).
- >= 12
- Very high probability of appendicitis. A probability band, not an operative decision.
