E/e′ (LV Filling-Pressure Estimate)

E/e′ as an LV diastolic filling-pressure estimate, by the averaged or single-site cutoff (Nagueh 2016).

Example

Mitral-inflow early-diastolic velocity
90 cm/s
Tissue-Doppler e′ velocity
6 cm/s
e′ site
Average (septal + lateral)/2

Result: E/e′ 15 (average) — elevated LV filling pressure.

The tool opens with these values already filled in. Replace them with your own.

What the result means

Average
Average E/e′ < 9 normal, 9–14 indeterminate, > 14 elevated LV filling pressure.
Single-site
Septal E/e′ > 15, lateral E/e′ > 13 indicate elevated filling pressure. The average is preferred when both walls are sampled.

What you enter

  • Mitral-inflow early-diastolic velocity (E)
  • Tissue-Doppler e′ velocity
  • e′ site
