The McCormick neurological grading scale for spinal-cord (intramedullary) lesion function, by the motor / sensory deficit and ambulation, grades I/II/III/IV.

Example
- McCormick grade
- II - deficit but independent ambulation
Result: McCormick grade II: sensorimotor deficit affecting the involved limb, still functions and ambulates independently.

What the result means
- Grade I
- Intact or mild deficit not significantly affecting function; normal gait.
- Grade II
- Deficit affecting the involved limb; functions and ambulates independently.
- Grade III
- Requires a cane or brace, or significant bilateral upper-limb impairment.
- Grade IV
- Severe deficit; requires a wheelchair; usually not independent.
