What the result means
- 1
- No cognitive decline: no subjective or objective memory deficit.
- 2–3
- Pre-dementia: age-associated memory impairment (2), then mild cognitive impairment (3).
- 4
- Mild dementia: clear-cut deficit on interview; inability to perform complex tasks.
- 5
- Moderate dementia: can no longer survive without some assistance.
- 6
- Moderately severe: needs help with ADLs, may be incontinent; personality/emotional changes.
- 7
- Severe: verbal ability and ambulation lost; incontinent, needs feeding assistance.
