Friedman tongue position (FTP), the anatomical grade of what the observer can visualize of the oropharynx with the mouth open (no tongue protrusion), grades I/II/III/IV, used in obstructive-sleep-apnea staging.

What the result means
- Grade I
- Entire uvula and the tonsils / pillars visible.
- Grade II
- Uvula visible but not the tonsils / pillars.
- Grade III
- Soft palate visible but not the uvula.
- Grade IV
- Only the hard palate visible.
