What the result means
- Outcome
- Predicts EXACERBATIONS. Its predecessor FACED predicts MORTALITY. Pick by outcome, not by recency.
- Weighting
- Six items but NINE points. Do not treat the items as equal.
- 0 to 3
- Mild bronchiectasis.
- 4 to 6
- Moderate bronchiectasis.
- 7 to 9
- Severe bronchiectasis.
- Not FACED bands
- FACED is 0-7 with bands 0-2 / 3-4 / 5-7. A widely copied source wrongly applies those here.
- Abstract error
- The paper abstract says "2 exacerbations"; its Results say "1 hospitalization" and build the model on it. The body governs.
- Scope
- Group-level exacerbation risk. Not a diagnosis, not a cause, not a treatment indication.
