What the result means
- CSPH rule-out
- LSM ≤ 15 kPa and platelets ≥ 150 ×10⁹/L rules out clinically significant portal hypertension.
- CSPH rule-in
- LSM ≥ 25 kPa rules in CSPH — not reliable in obese MASLD (etiology caveat).
- Gray zone
- 15–25 kPa (or LSM ≤ 15 with platelets < 150): indeterminate — consider spleen stiffness or HVPG.
- Varices
- Favorable Baveno VI (LSM < 20 kPa and platelets > 150) makes high-risk varices unlikely — screening endoscopy may be deferred. Not an endoscopy or beta-blocker order.
